Private Forest Accord

The new Private Forest Accord was passed by the Oregon legislature in Feburary, 2022. The Private Forest Accord is a modification to Oregon's forest practice laws and regulations. It effectively creates new rules around harvesting and protection of various wildlife, riparian areas, steep slope logging, road construction and more. These new rules go into effect January 1, 2024 and will impact a significant portion of private timberland across Oregon. If you have land effected by these new regulations your project will have to be completed by the end of 2023 to not be subjected to these new restrictive laws. Please see the links below for more information on this new act, FAQ's and how Century Forest Management can help!

A: This primarily effects timberland owners who have any streams, roads, or wildlife on their property.

Q: What is the Private Forest Accord?

A: It is a compilation of new, more restrictive, Oregon Forest Laws put into effect in tandem with the current Oregon Forest Practices Act. The private forest accord was passed in February of 2022.

Q: When does it go into effect?

A: The new rules go into effect January 1, 2024. You must have your harvest completed by December 31, 2023 to be able to use the OLD rules

Q: Why does it matter to me?

A: Buffer zones, steep slope logging and road construction rules have significantly changed. This takes a large amount of land that was previously harvestable and makes it un-harvestable in the future. If your intent was ever to harvest your timber this may effect you.
